It chucked it down this afternoon - and i our wisdom we decided it would be a good idea to take everyone out in the car to Peebles (that's 7 of us). The first problem that we encountered was trying to get the seat which sits in our hallway cupboard back in the car......I'm no rocket scientist, and Catrin is considerably brighter than me, but it was pretty hard work....after several choice words - we vowed never to do this again.
The next problem was that with all the seats in, we couldn't fit our new double buggy in what remained of the "boot". Took all 3 wheels off it and then once everyone was finally in, if they all breathed in and sat with underpants on heads, we finally managed to get it in....more expletives.
Catrin couldn't find the raincover for the new buggy (we've only had it 4 weeks) - and it's not as if we live in Buckingham Palace, so this was somewhat frustrating - especially as the rain was getting heavier.....Grace then decided she wanted to sit in another chair....a chorus of "you're staying right there" followed.
Upon arrival at Peebels, we realised that we had brought nothing for Joseph who was getting very hungry. There were a catalogue of schoolboy errors that even a first-time mum wouldn't have made - let alone "proficient" parents that we are now supposed to be and grandparents (who've had 5 themselves).
After a brief walk in the park, we aborted the trip and headed back cross-country via Innerleithen - where the views would have been magnificent had it not been pissing down. We were relieved to arrive back home.
