the hand of history

An historic day for Scotland today. A Nationalist took the position of First Minister for the first time in..... a long while. I was in the chamber at the time of the vote crowning Alex Salmond - there to make sure that msps managed to correctly press a button (and not accidentally vote for the wrong person - I kid you not!).

This evening also saw Catrin and I pass a landmark which has freaked us out a little. We went to Watsons College where Grace has been enrolled for nursery in August. It was a "new parents evening" where they welcomed new parents, tour of nursery etc. We'd already done this a couple of weeks earlier - so mostof it was pretty dull and pointless. But it hasn't stopped us feeling older, more resonsible, and also re-live our own first school days - which for me involved a lot of tears....let's hope that Grace handles it better than I did.
